Community Service Work Days
The purpose of the Community Service Committee is to make quilts of all sizes to be donated to charitable organizations in our area. All members are encouraged to participate. Workdays are a great time for fellowship with other quilters, to share ideas, and get to know one another. This is a great way to meet others in the Guild.
Community Service Zoom meetings are held the 1st Saturday each month and scheduled from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Zoom information is emailed to members in advance.
In-person Workdays are held in the Reception Hall at Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite (corner of Euclid and Marguerite) beginning at 10 am. We usually sew until 2:00 p.m. We meet the third Saturday of each month, except December. We provide irons, ironing boards, and large cutting mats. Bring your sewing machine, supplies and a snack/lunch; coffee is usually provided. We always have several quilt bundles that need to be quilted and bound. Please consider taking one or more of them or work on the quilt at the workday. A few kits are available. Sizes for these quilts can be found on this link charitable organizations (Click on link to see dimensions--PLEASE NOTE: THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES). However, children’s quilts should be a minimum size of 40 x 40 inches.
For up-to-date information or any changes to the schedule, please check the newsletter or visit us on Facebook.
Camp Goodtimes
Our quilt guild has volunteered to provide quilts for Camp Goodtimes' campers. Camp Goodtimes is a summer camp for children who were stricken with cancer but are now in remission.
The Guild makes quilts for each camper from ages 7 to 17. Quilts are also provided by Project Linus and small groups in the Valley. If you wish to make a quilt and donate to this good cause, quilts should be (50" X 55") for children under 13 and for the teenage campers ages 13-17 (60" X 70"), both boys and girls.
Thanks to our Guild members, Project Linus, and small groups for all their support!
