August Block Lotto
August 2026 – “TORTOISE” (9” x 12” finished)
Well…here we are again—those hot summer nights, right? Nevertheless, a BIG THANK YOU to those members who made “Cartoon Dog” blocks in June. We had a total of 26 DOG blocks in various iterations that were submitted. Again, this group of blocks was split into TWO groupings of 13 each, and guess what? Chris Mc. won once more and Joye G. was the other winner. Talk about the “luck of the draw”, right Chris? Anyway, congratulations to both of them.
Now, continuing with our “critter” theme this year, the block for August is a TORTOISE block. [Please note that it is NOT A TURTLE as my husband says the shell is too tall.] The block finishes 9” x 12” and comes with two choices for making the shell. One shell uses TWLEVE 2½” squares (for those of you who like to use up scraps), and the other version is made with ONE fabric piece to make the block easier to piece. Be aware that this pattern is TWO pages, again.
So, have FUN, and again, please call me if you have any questions at all about making this block.
Thanks, and remember, NO TEXTS PLEASE. Candy H.
